DataTables server-side processing with POST example

Preamble

The default HTTP method that DataTables uses to get data from the server-side if GET, however, there are times when you may wish to use POST. This is very easy using the fnServerData() initialisation parameter, as shown in this example.

Initialisation code

$(document).ready(function() {
	$('#example').dataTable( {
		"bProcessing": true,
		"bServerSide": true,
		"sAjaxSource": "scripts/post.php",
		"fnServerData": function ( sSource, aoData, fnCallback ) {
			$.ajax( {
				"dataType": 'json',
				"type": "POST",
				"url": sSource,
				"data": aoData,
				"success": fnCallback
			} );
		}
	} );
} );

Server response

The code below shows the latest JSON data that has been returned from the server in response to the Ajax request made by DataTables. This will update as further requests are made.
